Paph primulinum purpurascens

I got this species fr recent trip to Taipei..what struck me abt this sp is the very small but colourful flower..plus u can get 2 or more flowers on 1 spike..and when one flower withers, another will appear. Lets hope this can do well in Singapore climate

Apparently the original is fr paph primulinum, found only in certain part of Sumatra, Indonesia and currently under critically endangered list

I remembered i bought a similar variety fr this species in 2014.

Lady of the night- brassovola Nodosa

This species fr central america n mexico area..somehow also can be easily grown here.If adequate sunlight, will flower often. Nice citrus smell at night...hence nickname " Lady of the night"

Dendrobium senile

Nickname "white-hair" or " oldman" denbribium..I call it " hairy" denbrobium. It is semi deciduoud, flower last abt 2-4 wks, with a faint lemon smell

Cleisostoma arietinum

Small flowers, unique leaves.
Last time had this, but leaves gradually dropped.
Lets hope this time this one will survive.

Bulbophyllum lasiochilum

Nickname " shaggy lipped bulbo". Looking at the lips of this sp, not hard to imagine why such a cute name

More interesting is despite being small size ( 1-2cm), it gived a light fragrance, some describe as strawberry smell. Flowered in end Jan- feb

Interesting now mid march, another flower appears.

Tainia species

This looks like Tainia viridifusca. Very intetesting growth..flower shoot just appears fr bulb, grows taller and taller and small flowers appear at the very tip.

Dendrobium peguanum

Another tiny flower species(< 1cm) of dendrobium. Deciduous and flower in late fall.need a dry period.

White and blood-red Dendrobium

Dendro albosaguineum. This is found in high altitude. Some will give a nice fragrance.The problem with this species is the cane can v rather long n pendulous and many will bend on its weight.

This is supposed to be a long inflorescene..but mine only 2-3 flowers. Found this in a thrown away pile of orchids, took it home n tied on a brance...surprisingly, it flowered.

Looks like " fox-tail". Or maybe other species.maybe next year with more flowers, i can identify better

After much research, finally identified it..thisbis Vandopsis gigantea. Flowering period Feb...and flower seems to last more than 1 mth.lets hope next year will see more

This bulbo i saw it in botanic garden.always have problem differentiating this fr bulbo. orientale or peninsulare or the extinct bulbo singaporeanum

Dendrobium palpebrae - "eyelash" dendrobium

1st time flowered for me. Hanging bunch of 1 dozen pretty orchids. Some reported an apple fragrance ...err couldnt smell any for mine

Woke up one morning...and wow....

Its call palpebrae as if you look closer, at the lips, there are " eye lashes" which was thought to " massage" the bees during pollination

My only grumble with this species is the flowers are very short live...gone im 3-4 days..haiz
